The present federation home is located in Queens Park and advantages of a sizable north-east facing site. The clients needed a sizable home for his or her growing family that will best utilise the expansive character from the block in addition to respect the integrity from the existing house. The work response involves grafting a 2 storey folded volume to the rear from the existing spend – a parents retreat and focus around the 2nd floor, having a generous living space below. A central courtyard placed between new and old provides relief and enables light and breezes to permeate. Living areas open onto a lush rear garden.
