Is unique way of living with cultural norms that are rooted in a deep cultural history. Japan places a great emphasis on work, education, home and public life.
It is common for men to seek employment in cities far from home. Culturally, Japanese put in long working hours. They are instilled with a sense of pride and loyalty when it comes to their employers. It is common for employees stay with one employer for the duration of their career. Typically, these men will spend the work week in the city where they are employed. They will travel to stay with their family on the weekends. Some employers even pay a percentage of their employees’ income as a marriage stipend or compensate with cheap family housing. Single women in Japan usually live at home with their parents until they are married. It is common for marriages to be arranged in Japan. These marriages generally have a high success rate in comparison to statistics from other countries.

Japanese lifestyle

Places a great emphasis on education. Most school days are at least 6 hours long and homework is mandatory. In the summer, vacation consists of 6 weeks. In the winter and spring, vacation consists of 2 weeks. It is common to have homework to complete over vacation time. Elementary school usually consists of 6 years of education. A duration of 3 years is spent in junior high school. Senior High school requires 3 years of instruction. Finally, 4 years is spent at a university.
Typically, public displays of emotion are not very common in the japanese lifestyle. This includes holding hands, hugging and kissing. Alternatively, public bathhouses are common due to the small living spaces of traditional Japanese architecture. These bathhouses have evolved to become social and relaxation spots in the community. Typically, lathering and cleaning is done outside of the bathtub. It is only acceptable to enter the water after being cleaned. Men and women do not utilize the same sections of the bathhouse.
