Not much public library that have good building, but this one, the Kansas City Public Library, has unique and great architecture. It should be noted that this is the library’s parking garage on the block next to the library. The actual library next door is a beautifully restored former First National Bank building. The original vault is now a children’s reading room (if I remember correctly), and a roof top garden was added complete with a life-size chess board. You can see the library in the background od the last photo.
I worked in the area now known as “The Library Diatrict”. If you ever have a chance to visit, there’s plenty of beautiful architecture, both contemporary and historic in this area of KC.
